Year Long Project – South – Time of Day

The main objective of the Year Long Project was to observe the changes in light depending on the time of day. Many professional photographers will head into the studio after about 10 in the morning until about 4.30 in the afternoon (season-dependant) as the morning and evening light leads to much better photography than the middle of the day.

Hopefully in these photos, taken at different times of the day (although not taken on the same day), it is easily observed that the colours and shadows from the photographs taken in the morning, late afternoon and evening are much more interesting than the midday photograph. There is a lot more depth to the photographs without the harsh sunlight and small amount of shadow.

This project has certainly changed the time of day that I take photographs, and I now try and avoid taking photos except at the extremities of the day.
