Rila Monastery

About this time last year, we travelled to Scotland for my sister-in-law’s wedding. We had seen a lot of Western Europe from when we had lived in the UK several years back, so after the wedding, we travelled through some of Eastern Europe. Poland and Romania were countries that we had wanted to see for a long time, and as an afterthought, we tacked on Bulgaria as we didn’t need visas to visit it.

We were surprised to find that it was the country which most stole our hearts and if we ever get to spend a year in another country, Bulgaria will be at the top of our list.

This photo is part of the ceiling of the Rila Monastery which is one of the most beautiful man-made things I have ever seen in one of the most scenic parts of the world.

Mountain Running

I love running as much as I love cycling. In fact if I added up the number of kms I have run over the last 5 years and compared them to the number of kms I have cycled, the running would far outweigh the cycling.

This is One Tree Hill which makes up part of my training run route. I usually run between 2-4 loops of Cornwall Park, each loop involving an ascent to the summit. I do enjoy the descent more than the ascent.

I didn’t plan to take a photo of this runner, he just made his way into the shot unexpectedly. Reviewing the images later, I found that I preferred the photo with him in it than the one without.
